Ex-Israeli President Moshe Katsay Facing Rape Charges

Israel’s justice ministry has announced plans to charge ex-President Moshe Katsay with several sex offences including the rape of a former employee.

Katsay had originally agreed to a plea deal in which he would have pled guilty to sexual misconduct to avoid possible jail time but he called that deal off and has since stated that he wanted to prove his innocence.

That may be difficult as he has been accused of sexual misconduct by a number of former female employees while he was tourism minister and president. After determining the accusations were reliable Attorney General Meni Mazuz agreed to move forward with the indictment.

Katsay has maintained his innocence and accused the Israeli media of launching a politically motivated attack against him.
