NFL Players Association to Vote on New CBA Today

Today the NFL Players Association is meeting to vote on a settlement that will include a new collective bargaining agreement and settle the remaining legal issues. Both lead and alternate player representatives from each team will be debriefed on the settlement, lead reps at NFLPA headquarters in Washington and alternates via conference call.

NFLPA president Kevin Mawae stated that the players will not be pressured into agreeing with the deal and are "not tied to a timeline of July 21." July 21 is when the owners are scheduled to meet in Atlanta.

If the deal is passed by the majority of the players Wednesday the owners would vote on the CBA Thursday. For the CBA to be ratified 24 of 32 owners would have to vote in the affirmative.

One of the last holdups for the CBA being passed is the lawsuit brought about by several individual players against the NFL owners. With the new settlement offering them no considerations it will be interesting to see if the legal matters can be settled before too much of training camp is missed. The first camp, the Bears, was scheduled to start Friday.
