Manning to Miss Beginning of Camp
Though it is still unknown when and if the Indianapolis Colts will have training camp this year, with the end of the lockout seemingly on the horizon reports are coming out that Peyton Manning will not be ready to participate. Camp is supposed to start on July 31, but Manning is still rehabbing from recent neck surgery, the second in 15 months.
Because of the lockout Manning has been unable to meet with the Colts' training staff for supervision and to keep them updated on the status of his recovery. The Colts used their franchise tag at the end of last season to keep Manning on the roster and say that they plan to make the 35 year old star the highest-paid quarterback in the league once the lockout is over.
While he may miss the beginning of camp it is unlikely that Manning will not participate in the team's regular season schedule. He has played in 208 consecutive regular season games. During his 13 years in the league he has never missed a start and has broken every franchise record for quarterbacks in Indianapolis. Only two seasons has he missed the playoffs and has won the AFC south division seven times in eight years. He also has won two AFC Championships, a Super Bowl Title, Super Bowl MVP award and has been the NFL MVP four times.
