Charles Barkley Completes 36-Hour Jail Sentence for DUI

Former NBA All-Star Charles Barkley has been released from jail after serving about 36 hours of a three-day sentence related to a DUI charge dating back to Dec. 31, 2008.

Barkley was released from Tent City jail in Phoenix, Arizona on Monday morning after beginning his sentence on Saturday. The 46-year-old was given 12 hours of work release Sunday and Monday as part of his sentence.

Barkley was originally sentenced to ten days but a judge knocked a week off his sentence under the condition he complete an alcohol-treatment program.

The DUI and subsequent media blitz that followed led to Barkley taking a leave of absence from his job as an NBA analyst for TNT but he returned to work shortly after the NBA All-Star game.
