Suicide Bomber Kills Dozens in Baghdad, More than 45 Injured

A suicide bomber targeting a group of dignitaries attending a national reconciliation conference in Baghdad has killed at least 33 people and left more than 45 injured.

Several tribal leaders had attended the conference in the Abu Ghraib municipality and despite the heavy police presence the bomber managed to strike as the dignitaries were leaving the conference. Several of the dignitaries along with police officers and journalists were among the dead.

This was the second suicide bombing attack in three days in which more than 30 people were killed. On Sunday a police recruiting center was struck as candidates lined up outside the building. A suicide bomber on a motorcycle cashed his bike into the line and detonated an explosive killing at least 30 people in the attack.
