Big East Tournament First Round Scores: DePaul Ends Cincinnati Bearcats Hopes of NCAA Bid with Upset Win

The DePaul Blue Demons hadn’t won a Big East game all year but on Tuesday they won their biggest game of the year as they knocked off the Cincinnati Bearcats 67-57 to advance to the second round of the conference tournament and dashed the Bearcats hopes of an NCAA tournament bid.

DePaul shot 49 percent from the floor and as Dar Tucker and Will Walker each poured in 17 points while Mac Koswal added 12 points and 9 rebounds in the win.

Cincinnati carried a 27-25 lead into the second half and pushed that advantage to 34-27 in the opening minutes but the Blue Demons wouldn’t go away and after Jeremiah Kelly buried a three-pointer to tie the score at 41-41 DePaul clearly had momentum.

With the score tied at 41-41 the Blue Demons buried the Bearcats with a 12-2 run for a 55-45 lead. Cincinnati managed to get within five but DePaul put the game away at the line.
