A gunman dressed in black combat fatigues entered a
German high school Wednesday and began firing randomly.
Authorities say a 17-year-old suspect began the shooting rampage
around 9:30 a.m. Witnesses say students jumped out of windows to flee the
school. Police evacuated the school and SWAT teams were called in.
The gunman escaped the school and drove to Willenden, Germany,
where he entered a car dealership and killed two more people. He exchanged fire
with police in the car dealership parking lot and was killed. It is not clear
whether he took his own life or was killed by police. Two officers were
injured.
“He left the lot and was met by the police in an open
area, near the dealership,” said local police spokesman Fritz Mehl. “Shots were
exchanged. Two police officers were injured. The suspect was killed.”
Among the dead were three teachers and 10 students. About
1,000 children ages 10 to 16 are enrolled at the school.
