Big 12 Men’s Basketball Tournament Round 1 Schedule: Texas Longhorns, Oklahoma State Cowboys, Texas A&M Aggies Playing for NCAA Berth

Day one of the Big 12 men’s basketball tournament kicks off on Wednesday and there are no shortage of must-win games on the schedule as several schools in the conference will need at least one win to solidify a spot in the NCAA tournament.

Tipping off first will be the Nebraska Cornhuskers (18-11, 8-8) and the Baylor Bears (17-13, 5-11) at 12:30 p.m. ET. Both teams would need a miracle run through the Big 12 tournament to capture an invite to the NCAA tournament but it all starts with day one. Nebraska did have big wins over Missouri, Kansas State and Texas but their resume doesn’t really stand out as at-large worthy. For Baylor, Wednesday will provide the opportunity to avenge a 66-62 loss to the Cornhuskers just four days ago.

Game two of the Big 12 tournament will feature the Texas Longhorns (20-10, 9-7) taking on the Colorado Buffaloes (9-21, 1-15) at 3:00 p.m. ET. While Texas stands a solid shot at earning an at-large bid into the NCAA tournament a few wins in the Big 12 tournament would ease their mind. In their only meeting this year the Longhorns needed overtime to beat the Buffaloes 85-76.

In game three of the Big 12 tournament the Oklahoma State Cowboys (20-10, 9-7) will be facing the Iowa State Cyclones (15-16, 4-12) at 7:00 p.m. ET. The Cowboys desperately need a run in the Big 12 tournament as they lack a solid resume for an NCAA bid at the moment. In their only match-up this year the Cowboys beat the Cyclones 86-67.

Wrapping up day one action in the Big 12 conference tournament will be the Texas A&M Aggies (23-8, 9-7) and Texas Tech Red Raiders (13-18, 3-13) at 9:30 p.m. ET. The Aggies have been a streaky team all year as they opened the season 14-1 before dropping seven of ten and then rattling off six straight wins to end the year. They won both match-ups against the Red Raiders this year. While Texas Tech lost 14 of their last 17 games they are capable of pulling off a shocker as their last win came against the Kansas Jayhawks.
