Two Teachers Accused of Sex with Same Student

Two junior high teachers are accused of sexually assaulting the same 13-year-old student. Bountiful Junior High teachers Linda Nef, 46, and Valynne Bowers, 39, have been charged with first-degree felony charges of rape and sodomy on a child.

Utah authorities say both confessed to having separate sexual relationships with the student. Bountiful Police Lt. Randy Pickett said the two teachers did not know about each other’s relationship with the boy until recently.

The relationships began after the boy began discussing personal problems with Nef, a studies teacher and cheerleading adviser, and Bowers, a math teacher. The discussions lead to sexual text messages, then phone sex and intercourse.

Nef arranged a meeting with police Thursday and confessed that she had sex with the boy for more than a year. Bowers was arrested Friday.
