Big 12 Conference Tournament Scores: Texas Longhorns Keep NCAA Tournament Hopes Alive with Win Over Colorado Buffaloes

Dexter Pittman scored 26 points and grabbed 10 rebounds, Damion James added 11 points and 11 boards and A.J. Abrams chipped in 10 points and collected 5 steals as the Texas Longhorns picked up a 67-56 victory over the Colorado Buffaloes to advance to the second round of the Big 12 conference tournament on Wednesday.

Despite collecting just one win in the Big 12 all year the Buffaloes managed to hang with the Longhorns for most of the game. Texas threatened to take over the game in the first half after Pittman’s dunk put them in front 29-18 with 6:12 left on the clock but the Buffaloes cut into their deficit and trailed 35-29 at the break.

In the second half the Longhorns extended their lead to as many as 13 points and while they never blew the doors off the Buffaloes they never allowed them to get any closer than seven points after the opening minutes of the half.
