Levi Johnston and Bristol Palin Confirm Split, Say Its Old News

Levi Johnston and Bristol Palin have confirmed that they ended their engagement. Johnston, 19, confirm the reports Wednesday saying he and Palin, the daughter of Alaska Governor Sarah Palin, mutually decided to end their relationships. He says the decision was made “a while ago.”

The couple was engaged last year after learning Bristol was pregnant. She gave birth to their son, Tripp, in December.

Palin, 18, also issued a statement concerning the breakup saying, “Unfortunately, my family has seen many people say and do many things to ‘cash in’ on the Palin name. Sometimes that greed clouds good judgment and the truth.”

The reason behind the split was not revealed. No other details were available.
