Big 12 Men’s Basketball Tournament Round 2 Schedule: Kansas Jayhawks and Oklahoma Sooners Kick Off Conference Tournament Play

Day one of the Big 12 conference tournament included a few surprises as Texas Tech and Baylor earned upset wins but on Thursday they’ll need to repeat the feat if they are to have any chance at an NCAA tournament berth. That will be no easy task as the top four seeds in the Big 12 begin play.

In the opening game on Thursday the Kansas Jayhawks (25-6, 14-2) will be facing the Baylor Bears (18-13, 5-11) at 12:30 p.m. ET. While Baylor knocked off the Nebraska Cornhuskers on Wednesday they have a much more difficult task at hand on Thursday as the Jayhawks have won 14 of their last 16 games including a ten-point win over the Bears on Feb 2.

Game two promises to be an even battle as the Kansas State Wildcats (21-10, 9-7) open their Big 12 conference tournament with a showdown against the Texas Longhorns (21-10, 9-7) at 3:00 p.m. ET. The Wildcats earned an overtime win against the Longhorns in their only meeting this year but they’ve been a bit inconsistent over the past two weeks and need a good showing against Texas.

The Oklahoma Sooners (27-4, 13-3) will be making a run for a #1 seeding in the NCAA tournament on Thursday as they face the Oklahoma State Cowboys (21-10, 9-7) at 7:00 p.m. ET. Oklahoma State took care of Iowa State on Wednesday but will need a huge game to knock off the Sooners, a team they’ve lost to twice this year.

Wrapping up the action on Thursday will be the Missouri Tigers (25-6, 12-4) starting their tournament against the Texas Tech Red Raiders (14-18, 3-13) at 9:30 p.m. ET. Texas Tech shocked Texas A&M in their opener but need a Big 12 conference tournament title to get to the NCAA tournament. To do that they’ll have to score another upset on Thursday against a squad that beat them in their only meeting this year.
