Dad of Missing Haleigh Cummings Weds Girlfriend, 17

The father of missing 5-year-old Haleigh Cummings wed his 17-year-old girlfriend Thursday. Ronald Cummings, 25, proposed to Misty Croslin, the last person who seen Haleigh before she disappeared, on Sunday. They applied for a marriage license Monday with Croslin’s mother’s consent and waited the three day period required by Florida law.

On Thursday, Cummings and Croslin tied the knot. Earlier in the week, the teen told reporters that “everything is still about Haleigh” and explained the marriage is what the child had wanted.

“Everybody is probably going to take this marriage thing the wrong way. This is what Haleigh wanted. She has always talked about it, and even if she’s not with us, she is still with us,” Croslin said.

The couple flew to New York Thursday night for their honeymoon and an appearance on the Today show.

Croslin is believed to be the last person to see Haleigh alive. She told police that she put Haleigh and her 4-year-old brother to bed around 8 p.m. February 9. Croslin says she fell asleep around 10 p.m. but woke at 3 a.m. to find the little girl missing. She says the back door was left propped open with bricks.

Police are still searching for the child. A new search is set to be launched this week.
