SEC Men’s Basketball Conference Tournament Semifinals Schedule: NCAA Tournament Berths at Stake as Auburn and Tennessee Square Off

The SEC conference tournament heads into the semifinals on Saturday with all four teams looking to improve their standings in the NCAA tournament. For Mississippi State their hopes of an NCAA ticket were improved with a win over South Carolina on Friday while the same was true for the Auburn Tigers after knocking off the Florida Gators while LSU and Tennessee advanced and are still trying to earn a high seeding in the dance.

In game one of the SEC semifinals it will be the LSU Tigers (26-6, 13-3) taking on the Mississippi State Bulldogs (21-12, 9-7) at 1:00 p.m. ET. The Tigers crushed Alabama on Friday to advance while the Bulldogs upended South Carolina with solid three-point shooting. Mississippi State could really use a win against the Tigers as they lack quality wins but beating LSU will be tough, they’ve dropped both games against them this year.

The Tennessee Volunteers (20-11, 10-6) and the Auburn Tigers (22-10, 10-6) will be meeting at 3:30 p.m. ET in the second semifinals of the SEC conference tournament with plenty at stake. Tennessee had no problems getting past Alabama on Friday while Auburn likely ended the Florida Gators hopes of an NCAA berth. The Volunteers have few quality wins over non-conference opponents, having fallen to Gonzaga twice, Kansas and Memphis while Auburn really needs a win as they lack any quality win over a non-conference opponent. In their only meeting this year the Tigers beat the Volunteers 78-77 at home.
