NBA Scores: Dwyane Wade Scores 50 Points as Miami Heat Down Utah Jazz in 3 OTs

Dwyane Wade scored 50 points, grabbed 10 rebounds and dished out 9 assists, Jermaine O’Neal added 28 points and 8 boards and Mario Chalmers finished with 23 points and collected 5 steals as the Miami Heat (36-29) knocked off the Utah Jazz (41-25) 140-129 in triple overtime on Saturday.

The Jazz carried a 29-19 advantage into the second quarter but Miami put things together as Wade scored ten points in the frame and Chalmers added seven as the eat cut their deficit to 55-51 at the break.

An 11-5 spurt to start the third quarter gave the Heat a 62-60 lead and they extended their advantage to as many as six but they couldn’t put the Jazz away and had to settle for a 83-80 lead at the end of the frame. The two teams stayed close over the first seven minutes of the fourth but then the Jazz opened an 8-point lead with 3:38 left on the clock and were in front 107-100 with 55 seconds left. After a pair of free-throws from Chalmers and a dunk from Udonis Haslem the Heat were back to within three and then James Jones drew a foul, sank his first from the foul-line and. after missing the second, Miami got the board. Jones then drew another foul and hit both from the line to force overtime.

Utah looked like they would dominate the extra frame as Mehmet Okur buried a three-pointer and Kyle Korver followed with a triple and an 18-footer and the Jazz opened up a 115-107 lead. It wasn’t enough though as the Heat held Utah scoreless the rest of the way as they forced a second overtime with a pair of free throws from Haslem.

In the second overtime the Heat went up 125-123 with a minute left but Deron Williams evened the score on a 21-footer with three seconds left and it was on to a third overtime. That third extra frame was all Miami as Utah managed just one field goal.

Deron Williams led the Jazz with 30 points and 13 dimes while Carlos Boozer finished with 20 points and 13 rebounds.

The two teams combined for 205 field goal attempts and 67 free-throws
