NBA Scores: Milwaukee Bucks Stop Boston Celtics to Hold on to Eight Spot

Charlie Villanueva scored 19 points and grabbed 7 rebounds, Richard Jefferson added 17 points and Keith Bogans finished with 9 points and pulled down 12 boards as the Milwaukee Bucks (31-38) knocked off the Boston Celtics (50-17) 86-77 on Sunday.

The Bucks carried a 65-63 lead into the fourth quarter but pulled away from the Celtics with a 13-3 run that pushed their advantage to 80-69 with 4:41 left on the clock. Boston staged their own 8-0 run to get back to within 80-77 with three minutes left in the game but they couldn’t hit a bucket the rest of the game as Milwaukee held on for the home win.

Boston’s Ray Allen and Paul Pierce struggled from the floor all day as they combines to hit just 6-26 for 23 points while Kendrick Perkins was the lone bright spot for the Celtics, finishing with 26 points and 12 rebounds in the loss.

With the win the Bucks remain in the number eight spot in the Eastern Conference playoff hunt, just percentage points ahead of the Chicago Bulls, New Jersey Nets and New York Knicks.
