Junior Golfers Can Enter U.S. Putting Championship

The nation's Junior golfers can enter the 2011 U.S. Putting Tour Championship for a reduced entry fee, it was announced today. Golfers who are at least 13 years old and not over 18 by the golf tournament's start date of September 26 can enter for as little as $25, which is a $75 savings off the standard $100 entry fee.

Male and female junior golfers who enter the national putting championship will compete head-to-head with adults in the tournament, including amateurs and professionals. There are no handicaps or separate divisions in the competition.

"What an opportunity this is for junior golfers to put their putting prowess to the test," said U.S. Putting Tour president, Jim Hartley. "Who knows - it could be a junior golfer who walks away with the title of America's Best Putter on October 2nd."

The entry fee of $25 applies for junior golfers who choose to play their first round on either Monday or Thursday or Championship Week. Junior golfers who prefer to play Round 1 of the putting competition on either Friday or Saturday of Championship Week will pay a $50 entry fee.

Junior golfers who advance to Round 2 will play on Championship Sunday, October 2nd. A total of 72 golfers will make it to the second round. Following 36 holes on the USPT Championship putting course on Sunday morning, the low 24 scores will move on to the final round Sunday afternoon for another 36-hole round.

Parents of junior golfers interested in competing in the putting tournament can sign up at the U.S. Putting Tour website.
