The Grassroots Golf Association (GGA) will feature Toronto’s
first Street Golf Tour & Concert at the Yonge-Dundas Square on July 31,
2011.
“This is an important initiative for us but more importantly for our youth and
the community,” says GGA executive director, Aarold Bennett. “Aside from golf
being a fun yet challenging sport, it also nurtures character and etiquette;
fosters quality relationships and promotes leadership and these are the values
that we want to transcend into the community.”
The Street Golf Tour will feature a 9-hole mini golf tournament with PGA
Simulators, driver cages and chipping nets. Each Street Golf Tour event will
also feature PGA Certified Coaching Clinics, Swing Analyzers and some of the
newest technology for beginner and advanced golf training. Event goers will be
invited to join the GGA for an opportunity to receive sponsored and subsidized
holistic coaching, training and equipment year round.
An additional golf tournament will be held on August 28, 2011 at the Angus Glen
Golf & Country Club in Markham in partnership with BPL to support the Right
of Passage Experience (ROPE). ROPE has a mission to assist youth in addressing
their boyhood-to-manhood transition issues and help them lead quality lives.
Participants can register to play in one or both tournaments and receive the
chance to win prizes, including 1 gold ounce worth approximately $1500.
“This is only the beginning,” adds Bennett. “The Street Golf Tour is expected
to grow and travel across Canada to affect lives and communities nationwide.
