NBA Scores: Kevin Durant Leads Oklahoma City Thunder to Win Over San Antonio Spurs

Kevin Durant scored 25 points, Thabo Sefolosha added 12 points on 4-6 shooting and Nick Collison finished with 8 points and 10 rebounds as the Oklahoma City Thunder (19-48) knocked off the San Antonio Spurs (44-22) 78-76 on Monday night.

San Antonio looked like they would cruise after they dominated the first quarter and carried a 29-14 lead into the second frame behind nine points from Tim Duncan. The Spurs then pushed their advantage to 17 points with 8:23 in the quarter but the Thunder regrouped and went on a 17-2 run to close to within 38-36 before heading into the break trailing 42-38.

The Spurs came out in the third quarter and once again looked dominant as they led by as many as 13 in the frame but the Thunder wouldn’t go away and closed the quarter on a 10-1 run that brought them to within 63-61 heading into the fourth. Sefolosha then tied the game at 67-67 on a layup and then Chucky Atkins buried a three-pointer to put Oklahoma City in front 70-67.

Oklahoma City went up 78-72 with 2:19 left in the game but both teams went cold over the final two minutes and the only points that fell came off a Tony Parker layup. Parker had a chance to tie the game with five seconds left in the game but his 19-footer fell short and the Thunder had the win.

While the Thunder hit just 35 percent from the floor they hit 17-21 from the free-throw line compared to just 7-12 from the charity stripe for the Spurs.
