NFL Free Agency may Begin Monday
If the NFL Players Association passes the new CBA proposal that the owners sent them Friday football operations could begin for the first time in months. The free-agency period could start as soon as this afternoon and the new league year would officially start at 4 p.m. on August second.
Before August teams would be able to sign their own free agents and begin talking to unrestricted free agents. The teams can begin signing free agents Tuesday at 12 p.m. but the contracts would not take effect until August second. Teams would also be allowed to conduct trade talks this afternoon with any trades becoming official on July 30.
The NFLPA is meeting at 11 a.m. today in Washington , D.C. and are expected to recommend the approving of the deal that the owners voted for last week.
