International Criminal Tribunal Reduces Sentence for Former Bosnian Serb Leader Momcilo Krajisnik

The International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia (ICTY) has cut seven years off the sentence of former Bosnian Serb leader Momcilo Krajisnik after judges overturned an earlier conviction for the murder and persecution of non-Serbs during the Bosnia war.

Krajisnik, 64, had originally been sentenced to 27 years in 2006 by the ICTY but will now face a 20-year jail term for his involvement in the deportation and persecution of civilians.

According to the ICTY there was evidence that genocide did take place yet there was insufficient evidence to tie Krajisnik to those charges.
