A
peacekeeper with the joint UN-African Union forces operating in Sudan’s Darfur
region was killed in an ambush on Tuesday.
According
to reports a group of peacekeepers had been returning from patrol in Nyala when
a number of armed men opened fire on the group. One of the peacekeepers was
airlifted to a base in North Darfur where they were pronounced dead.
The
attack comes just one day after Sudanese President Omar al-Bashir declared he
wanted all international organizations out of Sudan within a year. He was
recently indicted by the International Criminal Court on war crimes charges but
