NCAA Tournament West Region Schedule Friday, March 20: Missouri Tigers and Marquette Golden Eagles Take Court

The West Region featured six games on Thursday, leaving just two games on the slate for Friday as the Missouri Tigers and Marquette Golden Eagles each get their tournament started against a pair of schools that are certainly capable of staging an upset.

In game one the #6 Marquette Golden Eagles (24-9) will be facing the #11 Utah State Aggies (30-4) at 12:30 p.m. ET from Boise, ID. The Golden Eagles limped their way to the end of their regular season and Big East conference tournament as they lost five of their last six and will be without Dominic James, a major concern for Marquette fans. Utah State opened the season 24-1 before dropping three of five but they regrouped and easily won the WAC regular season title and then fought their way to the conference tournament title.

The #3 Missouri Tigers (28-6) will wrap up the West Region first round action when they take on the #14 Cornell Big Red (21-9) at 3:00 p.m. ET in Boise, ID. Missouri went 5-2 against teams in the Big 12 that made it to the tournament and they also captured the Big 12 conference tournament title. Cornell captured the regular season and conference tournament title in the Ivy League but they didn’t have a single win over an NCAA tournament team during the year.
