NCAA Tournament South Region Scores: #1 North Carolina Tar Heels Drop the Hammer on #16 Radford Highlanders

Wayne Ellington scored 25 points and grabbed 8 rebounds, Danny Green added 15 points pulled down 10 boards and Tyler Hansbrough finished with 22 points as the #1 North Carolina Tar Heels cruised to an easy 101-58 victory over the #16 Radford Highlanders in South Region action on Thursday.

Radford managed to hang with the Tar Heels for the first seven minutes of the opening half as they trailed 17-14 but North Carolina used an 11-2 run to get some separation and then closed the half with a 17-7 spurt that put them in front 53-34 at the break.

It didn’t get any better for the Highlanders in the second half as North Carolina opened with a 15-4 spurt that all but ended and hope Radford had of a comeback.

North Carolina shot 45 percent from the floor while Radford was a dismal 27 percent.
