A man who works at the Oyster Creek Nuclear plant in New Jersey was arrested and charged for DUI in April, but it is unclear if he was driving to or heading home from work, or was off-duty.
In the past, another employee of the nuclear plant, who was a shift manager, tested positive for cocaine use. The plant conducts regular drug tests for its employees to assure the plant is run properly.
A DUI isn’t just for people who have been consuming alcohol, an arrest for any driving intoxicated be any substance will require the defense of a DUI attorney.
The Nuclear Regulatory Commission is investigating the circumstances surrounding this case. The NRC wants to know if the operator sold, consumed or possessed illicit drugs or drank alcoholic beverages within the confines of the plant. They also want to know if the employee was intoxicated while supervising others, or at the plant’s control.
A spokeswoman for the Lacey plant that has been operating for over four decades told the press, “We cannot talk about specific personnel issues.”
So often, people who are under the influence of alcohol or drugs, disregard the safety of other individuals. Strict laws forbidding DUIs are in place to ensure the safety of the public. Breaking these laws means that individuals will need to find a competent DUI lawyer.
An effective defense is only possible by hiring a DUI attorney, who has extensive experience with the law.
