North Korea to Restore Military Hotline with South Korea

North Korea has announced it will restore a military hotline with South Korea, less than two weeks after the country severed communication with the country due to a joint military exercise it carried out with the United States.

That twelve day exercise was seen by North Korea as preparation for an invasion despite insistence from South Korea and the U.S. that the exercises were nothing more than a drill.

North Korea and South Korea established their military hotline as a means of providing direct communication during high tension as well as coordinating travel through the Demilitarized Zone.

While the military hotline is expected to be restored on Saturday there remains plenty of skepticism surrounding North Korea as they continue their plans to test-fire a rocket next month. North Korea has said they are preparing to launch a communications satellite while many believe they are actually trying to test-fire a long range missile.

North Korea has already said that any attempt to shoot down their satellite would result in war.
