U.S. Navy Vessels Collide in Strait of Hormuz

Two U.S. navy vessels operating in the Strait of Hormuz have collided, causing light injuries to about 15 sailors.

 

According to reports the vessels, the navy submarine USS Hartford and the amphibious USS New Orleans, slammed into each other early Friday morning. While there were no serious injuries in the collision the fuel tank of the New Orleans was ruptured resulting in more than 25,000 gallons of diesel fuel spilling into the Strait of Hormuz.

 

The Navy has begun an investigation into the collision.
