NCAA Tournament South Region Scores: #3 Syracuse Orange Show No Signs of Slowing Down in Blowout Win Over #14 Stephen F. Austin

Jonny Flynn scored 16 points and dished out 7 assists, Rick Jackson added 10 points and 12 rebounds and Paul Harris pulled down 16 boards as the #3 Syracuse Orange had little trouble getting past the #14 Stephen F. Austin Lumberjacks 59-44 on Friday to advance to the second round of the South Region.

Syracuse buried SFA early as they raced to a 20-4 lead and when Flynn sank a layup with two minutes left in the half the Orange extended their advantage to 38-18 before settling with a 38-22 lead at the break.

The second half was no better for the Lumberjacks as Syracuse went opened with a 12-2 run to establish a 26-point cushion and SFA never had an answer. Even after a nearly five-minute scoreless spell for Syracuse the Lumberjacks could only manage to cut their deficit to 15 points.

Stephen F. Austin had a brutal day shooting as they hit just 24 percent from the floor and a dismal 2-21 from beyond the three-point line.
