NCAA Tournament West Region Schedule Saturday, March 21: UConn and Memphis Back in Action with Sweet 16 Berth at Stake

The West Region of the NCAA tournament will feature three games on Saturday with a berth in the Sweet 16 at stake. While the Connecticut Huskies, Maryland Terrapins, Washington Huskies and Texas A&M Aggies advanced to the second round with relative ease the Memphis Tigers and Purdue Boilermakers needed to battle their way into the field of 32.

The #2 Memphis Tigers will have to hope they have their focus back after a close call against Cal State Northridge on Thursday. Memphis will be facing the #10 Maryland Terrapins who used the long-ball to handle the California Golden Bears in their first round game. Memphis can’t afford to rely on a second half run to get past Maryland like they did against Cal State Northridge as the Terrapins have proven they know how to finish a game. Tip-off for Saturday’s game is set for 3:20 p.m. ET from Kansas City, MO.

In game two of the West Region on Saturday the #1 Connecticut Huskies will be taking on the #9 Texas A&M Aggies. UConn blasted the Chattanooga Mocs on Thursday and finally looked comfortable playing without Jerome Dyson; that despite the fact they were playing without head coach Jim Calhoun. The Aggies shot lights-out in their game against BYU and another 57 percent shooting performance on Saturday could earn them the upset. Tip-off is set for 3:35 p.m. ET from Philadelphia, PA.

Game three of the West Region on Saturday could be the most interesting battle of the day as the #4 Washington Huskies face the #5 Purdue Boilermakers. Washington knocked off a tough Mississippi State team in the first round while Purdue had to fight off a tough Northern Iowa squad that gave the Boilermakers all they could handle. Tip-off is scheduled for 5:40 p.m. ET from Portland, OR.
