Plaxico Burress Signs Deal with New York Jets

Plaxico Burress is returning to the city where he played a key roll in winning the Lombardi Trophy, but he won't be wearing the same colors when he takes the field this fall. After the last act of his career ended with the New York Giants his attempt at a revival will take place with the New York Jets.

Burress left the Giants after suffering a self-inflicted gunshot wound and subsequent 20 month prison term. Now nearly 34 he is returning to football for the first time since that night and drew a lot of interest from teams that are projected to finish this season near the top like the Pittsburgh Steelers (where he started his career) and the Philadelphia Eagles (who already have a succesful ex-con in Michael Vick).

Burress says that he is in great shape but that it will take him some time to adjust to the rigors of an NFL game. Speed and durability will be the biggest questions as he reports to camp for the first time on Thursday.
