Philadelphia Eagles Expect DeSean Jackson to Report Soon
The Philadelphia Eagles have been making big moves in the abbreviated NFL offseason this year. They signed all-world cornerback Nnamdi Asomugha and defensive end Justin Babin, received another cornerback Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie through a trade and already have another Pro Bowl corner in Asante Samuel. With the defense locked tight the only piece that needs to fall into place is on the offensive side of the ball.
The Eagles offense last year was a quick strike team that could beat their opponent on any play. Michael Vick had a career resurgence and the passing game was a threat on every down. A key member of that attack was DeSean Jackson, who has been holding out since players began reporting to camp. Jackson would begin receiving fines of $30,000 a day on Thursday.
Jackson has been selected for the Pro Bowl twice but is only scheduled to make $565,000 this year. He is holding out because he feels, and many would agree, that he should be valued as one of the best receivers available. The Eagles have said that they are willing to negotiate the contract but only at camp in Bethlehem, Pa.
