Mount Redoubt in Alaska Erupts 3 Times

Alaska’s Mount Redoubt volcano began erupting late Sunday. Geologists at the Alaska Volcano Observatory said Redoubt, which sits about 100 miles southwest of Anchorage, erupted three times.

The largest eruption sent a plume of smoke at least 50,000 feet above sea level. No cities have reported ash fall but geophysicist says it’s still early.

Redoubt last erupted 20 years ago.
