Authorities in northern Argentina have arrested a man in connection with the brutal murders of two French tourists last week. Police officer Jose Hinojosa said the suspect, whose name has not been released, was arrested Monday morning. The man was described as “middle aged” and a resident of Salta. The possibly of more arrests has not been ruled out. No other details were released.
The bodies of Houria Moumni, 24, and Cassandre Bouvier, 29, were found last Friday near a trail in the San Lorenzo Gorge. The women arrived at the gorge on July 15. Authorities believe the pair may have been held captive before they were killed between July 26 and July 28. One of the women was shot in the head and the other in the back. Evidence suggests one of them had been sexually assaulted.
