Suicide Bomber Targets Funeral in Iraq, at last 25 Killed

A suicide bomber detonated an explosive at a funeral in the town of Jalawla in Iraq’s Diyala province, killing at least 25 people and injuring dozens more.

There have been no claims of responsibility for the suicide bombing but al-Qaeda has been carrying out several attacks in the area in an attempt to gain a stronger hold in province of Diyala.

It is believed that the target of the attack was a local politician who had been attending the funeral but that has not been confirmed.

The funeral attack came just hours after a bomb explosion rocked an area of Baghdad that killed eight people and injured several more.
