Juergen Klinsmann Confident in US Soccer Team

The weekend provided plenty of excitement with NFL free agency and MLB trade deadline but the United States Men's Soccer Team made a big move as well by hiring a new coach, Juergen Klinsmann. He is the former coach of the German national team and is focused on developing the future of the American game.

Klinsmann is a good choice for a team that has aspirations of contending for future World Cups. He won the cup as a player and in 2006 led the German team to a third place finish. While he is a German by birth he has been living in the States for more than a decade and says his children consider themselves more American than German. This means that he will be able to blend the European style with American culture to create the best strategy possible.

Style of play has been a problem for the Americans because of the variety of cultures that exist in the country. Without a uniform style it can be difficult for teams to come together and work towards a common goal. Klinsmann sees developing a national style as a goal and will work with college coaches to determine the best way to establish an identity.
