House Rep. Barney Frank Calls Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia “Homophobe”

Democratic congressman Barney Frank took a shot at Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia in a recent interview on a gay online news site when he called him a “homophobe” because of his support for the 1996 Defense of Marriage Act.

Frank has tried to challenge the act which states the federal government and states are not bound by law to recognize same sex marriages. It is believed that at some point the law will be appealed to the Supreme Court but Frank expressed hope that Scalia would no longer be seated when the day came.

When asked about the possibility of the Defense of Marriage Act appeal Frank responded “I wouldn't want it to go to the United States Supreme Court now because that homophobe Antonin Scalia has got too many votes on this current court.”
