Philadelphia Eagles defensive tackle Mike Patterson is undergoing tests at Lehigh Valley Hospital after suffering a seizure. The incident occurred Wednesday during training camp at Lehigh University. Trainer Rick Burkholder said Patterson, 27, suddenly collapsed and shook uncontrollably for about 4 minutes.
Before an ambulance arrived, Burkholder and other staff members were assisted in caring for Patterson by offensive lineman Danny Watkins, who has firefighter training.
Patterson is currently "in no pain and doing well,” according to his agent JR Ricket. Ricket said Patterson plans to return to practice as soon as he is cleared by doctors.
"He's absolutely alert, stable, totally communicating with everybody, even joking a little bit. We won't speculate what happened to him, other than he had a seizure. It could be anything. We don't even want to speculate what might have happened,” Burkholder added.
