The
NCAA basketball tournament has reached the Sweet 16 stage and the four teams
representing the West Region are no real surprise as the first two rounds provided
few upsets, setting the stage for Thursday’s showdown between Connecticut and
Purdue as well as Memphis and Missouri.
Perhaps
no team is playing better in the NCAA tournament than the #1-seed Connecticut
Huskies and they’ll be looking to march forward when they face the #5-seed
Purdue Boilermakers at 7:07 p.m. ET in Glendale, AZ. The Huskies have blasted
Chattanooga and Texas A&M to reach the Sweet 16 while the Boilermakers
faced a fight against Northern Iowa in the first round and then had to battle
past Washington in the second round.
In
the second game of West Region Sweet 16 action the #2-seed Memphis Tigers
continue their push for a return to the NCAA championship game when they meet the
#3-seed Missouri Tigers. After a scare against Cal State Northridge in the first
round Memphis crushed Maryland in round two while Missouri had little trouble
against Cornell in their opener before getting past Marquette in the second.
Tip-off for Memphis and Missouri is set for 9:37 p.m. ET from Glendale, AZ.
