NCAA Basketball Elite Eight West Region Scores: #1 Connecticut Huskies Punch Ticket to Final Four with Win Over #3 Missouri Tigers

Kemba Walker scored 23 points, Jeff Adrien added 12 points and 11 rebounds, A.J. Price finished with 18 points and Hasheem Thabeet pulled down 12 boards as the #1 Connecticut Huskies held off the #3 Missouri Tigers 82-75 on Saturday to advance to the Final Four in the NCAA tournament.

Connecticut jumped on the Tigers early as they built a 13-2 advantage in the opening minutes and they held an 11-point advantage with 11:49 left in the half after Stanley Robinson hit a jumper but Missouri clawed back and when DeMarre Carroll sank a layup with 5:48 left on the clock they were within 28-27. Connecticut managed to push their advantage back to eight before settling with a 44-38 lead at the break.

The Huskies were awful to start the second half as they hit just one field goal over the first 12:43 and the Tigers managed to erase their deficit and actually take a 50-49 lead. That lead didn’t hold long but Missouri stayed close and were down 59-58 with 6:22 left but Connecticut then went on an 8-0 run for some breathing room. Missouri fought back and were within three with 1:55 on the clock but the Huskies were clutch at the foul-line down the stretch and Missouri had no more answers.

Connecticut is now on their way to the Final Four in Detroit where they will face the winner of the Louisville and Michigan State battle.
