NCAA Basketball Elite Eight Midwest Region Schedule: #1 Louisville Cardinals Take on Michigan State for Trip to Final Four
With the Villanova Wildcats and Connecticut Huskies already punching their tickets to the NCAA tournament Final Four the picture will be completed on Sunday with the Midwest Region and South Region placing their representative in Detroit. In game one on Sunday it will be the overall number one seeded Louisville Cardinals facing the number two Michigan State Spartans.
Louisville cruised in their opener against Morehead State before having to battle past Siena in the second round to advance to the Sweet 16. In that Sweet 16 game the Cardinals crushed the Arizona Wildcats for their 13th straight win to reach the Elite Eight. The Cardinals have been led by the sensational play of Terrence Williams, Earl Clark and Samardo Samuels and the Spartans will have their hands full on Sunday containing the power trio.
For Michigan State the road to the Elite Eight hasn’t been a cake walk. After dispatching Robert Morris in the opener the Spartans had to fight their way past the USC Trojans before knocking off the Kansas Jayhawks in the Sweet 16. The Spartans road a huge game from Travis Walton to get past the Trojans and have had consistent play from Kalin Lucas and Goran Suton in their effort to reach the Final Four and they’ll need a huge game on Sunday if they are to make it to Detroit.
Tip off for Louisville and Michigan State is set for 2:20 p.m. ET.
