Remote Backup Systems, developer of the RBackup and Mercury OEM Online Backup platforms, today announced a significant price reduction on its Virtual Hosting service. Virtual Hosting allows companies to start their own branded Online Backup services using RBS’ software and data center.
RBS Virtual Hosting is an alternative to purchasing hardware and software to operate an Online Backup service. Virtual Service Providers distribute RBS’ industry leading Remote Backup Client software to their customers, who back up to RBS' data centers. VSPs maintain their own customer relationships, determine their own end-user pricing, and distribute software with their own branding.
Prices have been reduced to $2/month per gigabyte and $2/month per client from $5/month per gigabyte and $5/month per client. Prices per gigabyte can be as low as $1.00 in higher quantities.
“We got a great deal on new equipment for our data centers, so we’re reducing prices to our customers,” explained Rob Cosgrove, CEO, “This is something we’ve wanted to do for a long time, anyway. $2/gig is a wholesale rate that lets our customers be much more competitive.”
Virtual Service Providers manage their accounts through a web-based portal that gives them the ability to customize their client software, build installers on the fly, run reports, do recurring billing, and sell Online Backup services from their web site by linking the Portal with their credit card processor.
The software they distribute is RBackup Version 10, which supports brick-level backups and restores of open Exchange 2003 and 2007 databases, live backups of SQL Server and MS Outlook, Active Directory, System State, Sharepoint, open and locked files, and regular files and folders.
