Russia and U.S. to Renew Nuclear Talks as President Barack Obama Agrees to Visit Moscow in July

For the first time in more than a decade the United States will hold talks with Russia concerning the reduction of nuclear warheads.

On Thursday U.S. President Barack Obama accepted an invitation from his Russian counterpart Dmitry Medvedev to meet in Moscow in July at which time the two will discuss the issue of nuclear weapons as well as “mutual international co-operation.”

The talks will be aimed at producing a new arms control treaty that would replace the current Strategic Arms Reduction Treaty set to expire at the end of the year.

Obama and Medvedev are currently in London where they are attending the G20 summit.
