A Red Cross staff member being held hostage by Islamist militants in the Philippines has been freed after nearly three months in captivity.

The woman freed has been identified as Mary Jean Lacaba, a Filipina, yet two more Red Cross workers remain held, a Swiss and Italian national.

The condition of the remaining two hostages is unknown and the Abu Sayyaf rebels holding the two had already threatened to behead one of the hostages if their demands were not met.
