PETE’S PLUMBING INC. SHARES A WEALTH OF RESIDENTIAL WATER CONSERVATION TIPS

Small Changes Yield Big Savings for Homeowners

Pete’s Plumbing Inc., a family-owned and operated full-service residential and commercial plumbing company that serves Alpharetta, Georgia and nearby areas, is offering residential customers a wide range of summer water conservation tips and summer plumbing maintenance solutions that are a win-win for both homeowners and the environment. Pete’s Plumbing is committed to providing customers the best possible plumbing service, including green plumbing and eco plumbing solutions.

Water conservation is always important, but it is especially so during the hot summer months. Pete’s Plumbing suggests several easy ways to reduce water usage. These include tips that customers can immediately implement, such as:

  • Rinsing vegetables and fruit in a pan of water instead of running the tap;
  • Reusing glasses throughout the day; and
  • Keeping a pitcher of water in the refrigerator to avoid repeatedly turning on the tap.

Other easy tips include:

  • Defrosting frozen foods in the refrigerator instead of with running tap water;
  • Composting food scraps instead of using the garbage disposal; and
  • Keeping an eye on your water bill.  For instance, a sudden unexplained increase in water usage may signal a leak, which is one of the most common ways water is wasted.

Pete’s Plumbing also recommends several water-saving measures for your water heater:

  • Consider installing a tankless water heater, which delivers high-efficiency and has a low lifecycle cost.
  • Reduce restrictions in hot water supply lines and make sure those lines are insulated.
  • Keep your water heater’s thermostat set to 120° F. Not only does this prevent scalding, but it also extends the life of your plumbing by slowing mineral buildup and corrosion, according to the U.S. Department of Energy.

Julie Lippitt, President of Pete’s Plumbing, said, “When temperatures heat up in the summer, water conservation can be an intimidating prospect for homeowners but it doesn’t have to be thanks to staying informed on how you can be water-wise. At Pete’s Plumbing we are committed to helping our customers get the highest value out of their plumbing. We do this both by providing expert water conservation plumbing services, as well as expert water conservation advice.”

Lippitt continued, “In addition to eco-plumbing services such as our water usage audit and complete line of green plumbing solutions, we also offer our customers easy tips they can start using right away to conserve water and save money both in the short term and down the line. Our blog is a great source for ideas on how to reduce water usage as well as upgrade plumbing to greener, more efficient systems.”
