NCAA Basketball Final Four Saturday April 4 Schedule: Connecticut Huskies Face Michigan State Spartans in Game One

March Madness has worked its way down to the Final Four and by the end of Saturday college basketball will have its national championship matchup in place, one of those teams will be either the Connecticut Huskies or the Michigan State Spartans as the two square off at 6:07 p.m. ET from Detroit.

Connecticut worked its way through the West Region to reach their third Final Four in school history and for the Huskies that’s a good sign as they managed to win national championships on their previous two trips.

The Huskies entered the NCAA tournament with many people questioning their chances for a national championship. A season-ending injury to Jerome Dyson was said to be too much for them to overcome and then a 6OT game against Syracuse in the Big East conference tournament served to bolster that argument but the Huskies have silenced those critics. Connecticut has been the most dominant team in the NCAA tournament thus far, blowing out Chattanooga in their opener and then dropping Texas A&M and Purdue without much trouble. They then took care of Missouri over the final two minutes in the Elite Eight to earn the trip to Detroit.

Connecticut has been getting solid play from just about everybody as Hasheem Thabeet has been a dominant defensive presence while A.J. Price, Jeff Adrien and Stanley Robinson have led the offense with Kemba Walker coming up big against Missouri.

For the Michigan State Spartans this Final Four is their seventh in school history, their first since 2005. They last won a national championship in 2000.

Many didn’t expect the Spartans to be in line for their third national championship as they faced a rugged Midwest Region schedule that included matchups against Robert Morris, USC and Kansas before meeting Louisville in the Elite Eight. The Spartans have been led by Kalin Lucas and Goran Suton while Durrell Summers has come up big as well.
