Binghamton NY Shooting Leaves Dead, Wounded and Hostages

An unknown number of people were killed in a shooting at the American Civic Association in Binghamton, New York on Friday.

A lone gunman entered the immigration services center after barricading the rear door of the building with his car. He began shooting immediately. The number of fatalities is unclear. At least six are wounded and 41 taken hostage.

Two handguns were found at the scene. The shooter, believed to be a young male, was reportedly caring a high-powered rifle. It is unclear whether he was still in the building. The FBI, Binghamton SWAT team and local police were at the scene. 

“We do know that a gunman entered the American Civic Association in Binghamton this morning and that there are fatalities,” said Governor David Paterson.
