Michigan based ClassicKaleidoscopes.com has reported an increase in sales over the last few months. Site owner Vladimir Gendelman attributes the booming kaleidoscope business to people discovering the therapeutic nature they provide.
Studies have shown that the use of a kaleidoscope is proven to reduce blood pressure as an effective form of visual therapy. It has also been reported that the peaceful nature of the item can produce a feeling of serenity among users and help them during turbulent times. Individuals dealing with tragic experiences say that extended use of kaleidoscopes can act as an effective coping mechanism.
Vladimir Gendelman knows that art can be used for more than just dazzling the eyes. “Art can move people in so many ways. A kaleidoscope is so much more than a toy, it is a calming glimpse into infinity,” said Gendelman.
The healing properties of kaleidoscopes have also caused a swell in popularity in giving them as gifts. Classic Kaleidoscope indicates that a large part of the sales increase came around major holidays.
“They make great gifts because a kaleidoscope is something that anybody can enjoy; sharing a kaleidoscope with a loved one can supply them with beauty in an often ugly world,” said Gendelman.
Classic Kaleidoscopes are hand crafted and feature 2 or 3 mirror configurations. Models range from the 20” tall Cousteau, to the 3.5” minis.
Until May 31, 2009 the company is offering a promotion that gives customers 25% off of the Cousteau model kaleidoscope. Visit the ClassicKaleidoscopes.com for more information.
