NCAA Final Four Schedule Saturday April 4: North Carolina Tar Heels Face Villanova Wildcats for Trip to National Championship Game

The NCAA tournament is just three games away from crowing a national champion but on Saturday it will be a pair of games that will determine who plays for that national championship. Game One will feature the Connecticut Huskies and the Michigan State Spartans with tip-off at 6:07 p.m. ET and that will be followed by the North Carolina Tar Heels and the Villanova Wildcats at 8:47 p.m. ET.

North Carolina opened the season with 13 straight wins before they dropped their first two ACC games. The Tar Heels rebounded and won ten straight in conference and eventually earned a number-one seed in the NCAA tournament. With experience coming in the form of Tyler Hansbrough, Ty Lawson, Wayne Ellington, Danny Green and Deon Thompson the Tar Heels are rolling. They knocked off Radford in their NCAA opener and then got past LSU and Gonzaga before overpowering Oklahoma in the Elite Eight.

Many point to the size of the Tar Heels as the main problem Villanova will face but the Wildcats have had to deal with plenty of big guys in the Big East and have shown no signs of being intimidated by UNC.

Villanova also started the season hot as they put together a 12-1 record before opening Big East action 2-3. The Wildcats then finished their conference at an 11-2 clip. Their season was tested in the NCAA tournament when they faced American University in the opener but after surviving a scare they drubbed UCLA and Duke before scoring a narrow win over Big East rival Pittsburgh in the Elite Eight. The Wildcats have had solid play from Scottie Reynolds, Dante Cunningham and Corey Fisher and if they are to have a chance against the Tar Heels they’ll need a huge game.
