Mosque Blast in Pakistan Leaves at least 20 Dead

A suicide bomber detonated an explosive near the entrance of a Shia mosque in northeast Pakistan’s Punjab province killing at least 20 people and leaving several more injured.

Reports have suggested there were nearly 1,000 people taking part in religious ceremonies at the mosque when the bomber, described as a male teenager, detonated the bomb. It is believed the death toll would have been much higher but the bomber was stopped at the entrance to the mosque.

Officials have blamed the attack on militants from the Sunni community who have launched numerous attacks against the minority Shia community.
