Raven's Pick Up Ricky Williams

Ricky Williams will be Willis McGahee's replacement in the Baltimore Ravens backfield. The team released McGahee before training camp started and signed the veteran Williams to a two year deal that was announced on Monday. The contract is worth $2.5 million base and could go as high as $4 million with incentives.

Williams has a long and strange history in the league. He was drafted highly after winning the Heisman trophy at Texas, battled depression when he played with the Saints, led the league in rushing with Miami and briefly took a sabbatical from the game entirely. He played last year with the Miami Dolphins. If he passes his physical on Tuesday he will play for his third team and work together with Ray Rice.

Rice said about Williams, "He's a veteran that brings a lot of leadership, I'm looking to learn a lot from him. I'm looking forward to working with him."

Last season Williams split time with Ronnie Brown and ended the season with 673 yards and two touchdowns while averaging 4.2 yards per carry. In his career he has rushed for 9,569 yards and 68 touchdowns. He has also caught 325 balls for 2,523 yards and eight more touchdowns.
